F-Body Gen 4 1993-2002 T-Top Roof Sail Panel – CARBON FIBER
Have you started to notice some really disgusting bubbling blisters of goo coming out of your roof panel? Unfortunately, GM used some bad adhesive which caused a nasty bubbling after time that can only be fixed by replacing the ENTIRE panel.
To add insult to injury, GM STOPPED MAKING the replacement piece. After years of NO ONE making this piece F-Body owners would have to try to find a good roof in a junkyard, spend hours with piano wire trying to remove it, praying they didn’t destroy it in the process and then hope a body shop could salvage it.
WELL, once again, we were asked to meet a need for our beloved F-Body community and WE HAVE. We tracked down AN ORIGINAL OEM GM NEVER INSTALLED SAIL PANEL and made a mold of it to bring to you BRAND NEW 1993-2002 Camaro/Firebird/Z28/Formula/SS/Trans-Am/Firehawk T-Top Sail Panel in Carbon Fiber…
The piece you will receive will be exactly what you would have received from GM, a FULL REPLACEMENT PANEL. All you need to do is rip off your old one (have fun tearing that beast apart and DESTROY it as retaliation for the pain it is putting you through! In other words, you can use a pry bar, putty knife, whatever you want HOWEVER piano wire or wire saw might be the cleanest and easiest way to remove it), remove any old caulk/glue/adhesive from the metal underneath, apply caulk/adhesive (we recommend Pro Grip, U400 HV Essex (Dow) or 3M Urethane 08690) and stick it on (follow instructions on the adhesive, you might need to clamp the roof on for a drying period)!
AS WITH ANY body panel, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND you have a PROFESSIONAL SHOP install it. THIS PIECE IS CARBON FIBER THOUGH and it COMES COATED with a MARINE GRADE UV protected gel coat so it will not yellow. SO YOU CAN INSTALL IT OUT OF THE BOX, NO EXTRA MONEY SPENT ON PAINT, etc…!!!
MAKE SURE YOU SPRAY AN EPOXY PRIMER ON THE UNDERSIDE BEFORE APPLYING THE GLUE!!! GM stopped doing this and that’s why it bled through.
